Here I am. I’ve been cooking this up for years and finally, here I am. I am parting the curtains and bringing up the lights. Ta-da, introducing my Ayurvedic practice—Elemental Ayurveda.
Elemental: employing the forces of nature. Elemental: simple. It wasn’t easy coming up with a name, but Elemental Ayurveda was an early front-runner. It’s apt because the elements are at the crux of the work I will do.
The elements are the framework of many holistic and herbalist approaches to health care around the world. The elements I want to highlight in this case are hot, cold, wet, and dry. In order to help you, I will sleuth out the elemental nature of your entire orbit: What’s the state of your lifestyle, your diet, and what’s the elemental make-up you came into this world with? With this information, happier and healthier living becomes more accessible and easier to understand. If you are educated and informed about the elements, you will be better equipped to navigate your life.
But so few of us are confident about identifying the elements in our lives. You know what it’s like to be sweaty and overheated, but do you know that inflammation, anger, impatience, and skin rashes are also signs of an overheated body? Many people understand that scaly skin is a sign of dryness, but there are many more indicators that are lesser known, like pellet-like stool and constipation, and anxiety.
Ayurveda says, are you hot? Apply cool. Are you dry? Apply moisture, unctuousness. And we aren’t just talking about ceiling fans and lotion, we are talking about fundamental shifts that ripple deep. I am here to guide you through these shifts. I am here to relate with you about when things aren’t going so well, to offer solutions, and to be a listening ear as you implement, because I’ve been there too.
Food, tea, spices, rest, massage, yoga, walking, time in nature, meditation: These are just some of the Ayurvedic prescriptions. The elements dictate the details.
Feeling better means every breath is more supportive, meals are more delicious with spices and proper salt and oil, digestion is optimal, exercise and movement are life-giving and not frustrating, sleep is easier and fitful. You are in the flow.
Experiencing change through Ayurveda is creative and fun, with as deep of a streak of spirituality as you need. It’s for every body, and I am here to be your guide. Bring it on: menstrual difficulties, depression, skin issues, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, IBS, overcoming addiction, digestive difficulties, aches and pains, allergies, obesity, difficulty concentrating, underweight, high or low blood pressure, immune challenges, and many more.
I am excited to express morsels of my profession in this blog, excited to perform truly unique Ayurvedic massage and body care methods on clients, excited to instruct on how to make food more delicious and digestible, excited to hear my clients’ stories and experiences and witness their change, excited to offer clinics for lower income people. I am maybe most excited about educating my community about the elements, and using that knowledge to formulate daily ceremonies of self-care, or sadhana, for clients—these actions and rituals are at the core of Ayurveda’s excellent preventative medicine ways.
Welcome to my new business!
